由于今年春节前客流来得早、上得猛，铁道部决定，全国铁路1月18日进入春运，比国家确定的1月23日进入春运早了5天。1月18日清晨7时许，铁道部党组书记、部长刘志军冒着北京新年第一场雪后的凛冽寒风，来到北京西站检查春运工作。他强调，要以确保春运安全为核心，坚决实现和谐春运的目标。
