1月2日，中共中央总书记胡锦涛在铁道部呈报的《关于铁路工作情况的汇报》上作出重要批示：2007年全国铁路系统改革、发展成绩显著。希望在新的一年里，继续解放思想，深化体制改革，推进自主创新，努力开创铁路运输建设新局面。
    “Remarkable achievements have been  made  in  the  reform  and development of the railway sector in 2007. MOR  shall  keep an open mind, carry on  institutional reform, promote independent innovation and try to create more momentum in railway transportation and development,” noted CPC General-Secretary Hu Jintao in a written instruction on MOR’s  Railway  Work  Report delivered on January 2nd 2008.
   
    1月3日，中共中央政治局常委、全国人大常委会委员长吴邦国在铁道部呈报的《关于铁路工作情况的汇报》上作出重要批示：祝贺2007年取得的新成绩，相信2008年会作出更大贡献。高速铁路建设是铁路实现跨越式发展的重大机遇，希望抓住机遇，以对国家人民高度负责精神，坚持质量第一、安全第一，通过引进、消化、吸收、再创新，实现科技和运营的大跨越。祝同志们取得成功，向同志们问好，拜年。
    Member  of  the  Standing  Committee of the CCCPC Political Bureau & Chairman of the 10th NPC National Congress Wu Bangguo delivered important instructions on MOR’s Railway Work  Report on January 3rd: “Congratulations on the railway’s achievements in 2007 and I believe greater  contributions will be made in 2008. The  construction of high-speed  railway  is a major opportunity for CR’s forward-leaping development, CR is expected to grasp this opportunity to realize quantum development in technology  and  operation  through  further  introduction, digestion, absorption and re-innovation with enhanced sense of responsibility for the country and the people while putting quality and safety first.     1月6日，中共中央政治局常委、国务院总理温家宝对铁路春运工作作出重要批示：铁道部提早出台春运方案受到群众的关注和欢迎。这项工作直接关系群众生活和利益，相信经过广大铁路干部职工的不懈努力，一定会一年比一年做得更好。在此，我向大家表示感谢和敬意。1月7日，温家宝总理在铁道部《关于2008年铁路工作总体思路和重点任务的汇报》上再次作出重要批示：铁路是交通运输的动脉，必须继续加强建设、改革、管理和创新，确保安全、经济、便利，更好地为经济和社会发展服务。
    Member  of  the  Standing Committee of the CCCPC Political Bureau &  Premier  Wen Jiabao  instructed  on  railway’s  Spring Festival transportation: “MOR’s Spring Festival transportation plan has  gained  attention  and welcome by the society. This task matters the people’s life and  interests and I believe the railway departments could do a  better  and  better job in this regard. I’m  extending my appreciation and respect to all of you.” Premier Wen Jiaobao delivered another  important  instruction on January 7th on MOR’s Report on Work Preview and Key Programmes for 2008, “Railway  is  an  artery  of  the  transportation system, which is  supposed  to  be  strengthened  in construction, reform, management and  innovation, and  the railway sector should do  their  utmost  to ensure safety, cost-effectiveness and convenience so as to well serve the economy and the society.”

    1月6日下午，中共中央政治局常委、全国政协主席贾庆林考察了建设中的北京南站。他对党的十六大以来铁路工作取得的成绩给予充分肯定，指出，中国人依靠自己的力量，建设了具有世界一流水平的青藏铁路；通过引进消化吸收再创新，设计制造了达到世界先进水平的时速200公里、300公里动车组和大功率机车，中国铁路为建设创新型国家作出了巨大贡献。希望铁路部门把北京南站建设成为世界一流的车站，为北京成功举办奥运会提供优质服务。
    Member of the Standing Committee of the CCCPC Political Bureau & Chairman of  CPPCC  Jia Qinglin inspected  the  constru ction site of  Beijing  South  Station  in  the  afternoon on January 6th. While speaking  highly of railway’s achievement since the 16th CPC National  Congress, Chairman  Jia noted that  the  Chinese people have built the world’s top-notch QTR line  while  relying on our own strength, and Chinese  railway people  have  developed  and  manufactured 200km/h and 300km/h EMU trains and high  horse-power locomotives through introduction,  digestion,  absorption and re-innovation, thus  making  a major  contribution to the building of  an innovation-oriented country. CR is expected to build  Beijing  South Station into a world-class  station and  provide  quality service for the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

    1月3日，中共中央政治局常委李长春在铁道部呈报的《关于铁路工作情况的汇报》上作出重要批示：我国铁路充分利用对外开放的条件，努力实现引进、消化、吸收、再创新，在较短的时间，使我国铁路跨入高速时代，并在若干领域进入世界先进水平的行列，中央重点媒体可总结、宣传他们的经验。中共中央政治局委员、中央书记处书记、中央宣传部部长刘云山也对铁路工作作出重要批示：我国铁路改革和发展都取得显著成就，要组织新闻媒体很好宣传，作为两会前形势和成就宣传的重要内容。
    Member  of  the  Standing  Committee of CCCPC Political Bureau Li Changchun  delivered important instructions on MOR’s Railway Work Report on January 3rd: “Chinese railways have grasped the opening-up opportunity and  tried to  realize technology  introduction, digestion, absorption and re-innovation, which ushers Chinese Railways into the age of high speed  and  elevates our railways  up  to the advanced level in  many  fields  within so short time period. The   key  media  can  well summarize and promote their success stories.” Member of CCCPC Political Bureau, Secretary of CCCPC Secretariat & Minister of Publicity Liu Yunshan also noted in an important instruction, “Chinese Railways have made remarkable achievements in  its  reform and development, which is supposed to  be  well  reported by the  news media  as an important component of the situation and achievement  briefing  before the convening of the upcoming NPC and CPPCC National sessions. ”
   
    1月7日，中共中央政治局常委、中央书记处书记习近平在看了铁道部《关于铁路工作情况的汇报》后作出重要指示：铁道部2007年工作情况汇报，我已认真阅读。去年工作很出色，向同志们表示祝贺，相信2008年各项工作会更上一层楼。
    Member  of  the  Standing Committee of  CCCPC  Political Bureau & Secretary of  CCCPC Secretariat Xi Jinping made important instructions on MOR’s Railway Work Report on January 7th, “I’ve read MOR’s work report for 2007 attentively. Congratulations on the remarkable job of last year and I believe the railway people could make more success in 2008.”

    1月10日，中共中央政治局常委李克强看了铁道部上报的《关于铁路工作情况的汇报》后，给铁道部党组书记、部长刘志军打来电话，对铁路工作给予充分肯定并提出殷切期望。他说：2007年铁路系统在路网建设、技术创新、运输经营、深化改革等方面取得显著成绩，谨表示祝贺，对广大干部职工为此作出的辛勤努力表示敬意。希望并相信2008年铁路系统一定会全面贯彻落实党的十七大精神，再接再厉，开创铁路运输建设的新局面，为经济社会又好又快发展作出特有的贡献。
    After reading MOR’s Railway Work Report, Member  of  the Standing  Committee  of  CCCPC Political Bureau Li Keqiang called MOR Party  Secretary &  Minister Liu Zhijun  on  January 10th to commend  and  encourage  the  railway sector. “The railway sector has made great achievements in network  development, technology  innovation, transportation & operation and deepening reform in 2007. I am extending my congratulations and  respect to the railway people for your hard work. I hope and believe the whole railway sector could keep carrying out earnestly the essence  of the 17th CPC National Congress and work harder to  create  new momentum in railway transportation and construction  so as to make special contribution to the sound and rapid eco-social  development,” Li noted.

    Member of the Standing Committee of  CCCPC  Political  Bureau  & Secretary  of  CCCPC  Discipline  Inspection Commission He Guoqiang delivered important instructions on railway  on  January  10th, “CR’s remarkable achievements in 2007 are so inspiring. I appreciate the railway comrades’ hard work and I wish you more success.”

    1月2日，中共中央政治局常委、国务委员、中央政法委书记周永康在铁道部《关于铁路工作情况的汇报》上作出重要批示：铁路的发展令人振奋，铁路的管理也为社会和谐稳定作出了特殊贡献，在抓捕逃犯、维护人民利益上也屡建奇功。表示祝贺和感谢。
    Member of the Standing Committee of CCCPC Political Bureau, State Councilor & Secretary  of  Central  Political and Legislative Affairs  Committee Zhou Yongkang delivered important instructions on MOR’s Railway Work Report on January 2nd: “The railway sector’s development is so inspiring, railway’s regulation has done special contribution to the social harmony and stability, and railway departments have also accomplished merits in seizing convicts at large and  safeguarding  the  people’s  interests.
